A Food-Focused Digital Experience for Jamaican Dining
Redesigned Epican into a food-first restaurant website with clearer menu browsing, mobile-friendly layouts and direct access to online ordering platforms.
About The Project
Epican Jamaican Restaurant serves authentic Jamaican cuisine in Houston, Texas. The restaurant wanted its website to become a stronger part of the customer journey rather than simply providing basic business information. In particular, the client wanted more people outside the immediate neighbourhood to discover Epican, understand what the restaurant offers, explore the menu and reach online ordering without confusion.
I redesigned the existing website using Wix CMS and the Wix Restaurants app, creating a more professional, food-led experience centred around the restaurant’s actual customer actions. The website was organised into five core pages—Home, Epican, Menu, Order Online and Contact Us—so visitors could move naturally between discovering the brand, viewing food and deciding how to order.
Photography, dish names, descriptions and displayed prices were used to make the menu more informative and visually engaging. Prominent “Order Now” actions appear in the navigation and throughout important sections of the experience. Instead of creating a separate custom delivery checkout, the site connects customers directly with DoorDash and Uber Eats, where payment and delivery are handled. The project also included branding refinements, separate desktop and mobile adjustments and on-page SEO, delivered within an approximately ten-day timeline.

Problem
Epican relied heavily on customers from its immediate local area and needed a website capable of supporting broader discovery across Houston. The existing digital presence did not communicate the food or restaurant experience strongly enough to turn unfamiliar visitors into interested customers.
Menu usability was another key challenge. Customers needed an easier way to understand what was available through strong food photography, useful descriptions and visible pricing. Once they found something appealing, the transition into ordering also needed to be obvious. If users had to search around the site for delivery links, the website created unnecessary friction exactly when purchase intent was highest.
The presentation itself also needed to feel more polished and aligned with the restaurant’s identity. Mobile usability was particularly important because restaurant discovery and food ordering frequently happen on phones. Navigation, dish browsing and ordering actions therefore needed to remain simple and accessible across smaller screens while maintaining the visual character of the brand.

Limited Online Reach
The existing website needed to introduce Epican more effectively to customers beyond its immediate local neighbourhood.

Menu Discovery Friction
Visitors needed a clearer, more visual way to explore dishes, descriptions, prices and available ordering options.

Weak Mobile Ordering
Mobile visitors needed simpler navigation and faster access to menu information and online ordering actions.
Solution
Selling a product that doesn't exist yet on shelves meant the website itself had to carry the entire weight of belief. Communicating AR concepts, AI integration, and 3D visualization without overwhelming visitors was a delicate balance. The page needed cinematic impact while still guiding users smoothly toward a pre-order decision.Selling a product that doesn't exist yet on shelves meant the website itself had to carry the entire weight of belief. Delivery Platform Handoff
DoorDash and Uber Eats handle checkout and delivery through a clear, direct external ordering journey.
Implementation
Implementation started by reorganising the existing restaurant website into five focused pages with a clearer relationship between discovery, menu browsing and ordering. The homepage introduces the restaurant and highlights key food content, while the menu provides a dedicated environment for customers to review dishes in more detail.
Menu cards were structured using food photography, dish names, descriptions and visible prices. This content was arranged so customers could compare dishes without navigating through several unrelated sections.
Ordering actions were then integrated into the main navigation and repeated throughout high-intent areas of the site. These actions direct visitors toward the available DoorDash and Uber Eats experiences rather than recreating checkout and delivery functionality inside the website.
The client’s preferred red, yellow and green colours were applied across highlights, ordering actions and supporting visual details. Light surfaces were retained around the content so photography remained the visual focus. Desktop and mobile layouts were refined separately to keep menu cards, navigation and CTAs usable across different screen sizes.
Wix CMS and the Wix Restaurants app provided the main website foundation, while on-page SEO was included to support the content structure and local restaurant discovery.

The Result
The redesign produced a five-page restaurant website that connects food discovery more directly with online ordering. The completed experience gives stronger visual priority to dishes, provides clearer menu information and keeps ordering actions visible throughout the customer journey.
According to the supplied buyer feedback, the client described the completed website as cleaner, more modern, more professional and user-friendly. The documented buyer rating was 4.3/5 overall, with 5/5 ratings for both communication and delivery quality.
The site connects Wix CMS and Wix Restaurants with DoorDash and Uber Eats for final checkout and delivery. No verified sales, traffic or conversion metrics were supplied, so increased revenue or customer volume is not presented as a measured outcome. The documented result is a completed professional redesign with clearer menu browsing, stronger ordering visibility, responsive layouts and positive client feedback.
